We had a blast at this week’s Rising Tide Society TuesdaysTogether meet ups. Especially as this month’s topic was wedding PR and marketing! In Georgia, Something New for I Do’s wedding PR insight was shared at The Corner District! In Virginia, Kristen got to talk all things wedding PR, getting published + answered some great vendor questions about the importance of wedding PR! We’re talking through some of the discussion questions, sharing wedding industry business tips and how to make wedding PR work for you!

- What is your “angle” or your business story that makes you interesting and different? The wedding industry is a crowed space! Because there are so many professionals competing for the same brides, it’s important you find a way to differentiate yourself from your competitors. This isn’t just a wedding PR strategy, but a sales solution as well. Think of your target client. Now think of the best way to attract them. What makes your ideal client more inclined to book you over your competitors? Is it because you specialize in eco-friendly options? Or because you only take on a limited number of weddings per year? In order for your angle to be most effective in gaining both media and bridal exposure, it needs to be one that will lead to direct sales.
- How do you want your target client to think and feel about your brand? Ask yourself this question from the wise Andy Stanley. “Are you the person the person you are looking for is looking for?” Did you catch that? In order to attract your target client, you must become the vendor your ideal client is looking for. But, it’s also important to point out here that authenticity is key. Clients are savvy. Therefore, they will be able to see through a falsely portrayed image of your brand. And when you secure that media placement sharing tips from your “luxury wedding” brand, if readers don’t see that same level of luxury and professionalism across your website and social media channels, they’ll know you’re sending mixed messages.
- How can you use social media as a strategic way to communicate your brand, products + services? We love Jenna Kutcher’s tip in this RTS blog. Profitability trumps popularity! In other words, quality over quantity. What good will it do your brand to have 10k followers if only a portion of them are engaged? Instead of thinking solely about growing your following, strategize on building an engaged following composed of your ideal clients. What imagery do you need to share to attract the client you’re looking for? What messaging resonates with them? Do they love following you on Snapchat for tips and insight? Or would they prefer to scroll through your Instagram feed of beautiful photos? It’s all about serving your clients in the way they best like to be served.
- What are some wedding PR methods that have gotten your name out? Collaborating on styled shoots is obviously a favorite, as is submitting real weddings and events for publication. Brainstorm for ways you can be of service to wedding bloggers and editors. If you notice they feature DIY tutorials often and they’re focus is beach weddings, reach out offering photos of a DIY beach escort card display. Remember that a wedding blog or magazine’s main goal is to serve readers. Not promote vendors. So, approaching an editor/blogger offering something for their target audience will get you much further than asking for a feature.
