We celebrate the life of my Grandpa, Norman Schlag.

He had always been a believer, but toward the end of his life, had a lot of questions about… what comes next. He was very handy, always fixing things and working on electrical wiring. He liked to know how things worked. And his questions were of that nature - just seeking understanding, like “How can all those people fit in Heaven?”

In the last year, we had some great conversations about faith. Faith as in what we believe as Christians, but also trusting and HAVING faith that we don’t have to have all the answers because He does. In his final year, he studied, sought out books, found a new church service to watch, and had important conversations he might not have had otherwise. He promised me that when we would all be ruminated in our Heavenly home, that he would be there. That he would find the key to it all, his faith in Jesus, despite his questions.

He suffered a brain aneurysm and put up one heck of a fight holding on for as long as he could. He couldn’t speak more than a couple words, but you could ask him to squeeze your hand and shake his head to communicate. I asked him if he kept his promise. He squeezed my hand for yes.

A couple hours later, his wife, two daughters, three granddaughters and grandson gathered around him to support his final moments. With our hands outstretched over him in prayer, He passed peacefully. We were by his side, witnessing the fruit of his faith as he entered Heaven. It was an honor to witness the life of this great man I call Grandpa, and a blessing to witness… what comes next - eternal life in Jesus.

It was 2019 when Isa accompanied friends to San Miguel de Allende to celebrate New Year's Eve. A great time is always expected when visiting this charming town, but what came as a surprise was that Isa would meet her husband while abroad.

When it came time to plan their wedding, the duo turned to Penzi Weddings to orchestrate their two wedding ceremonies - one religious and one civil - and corresponding celebrations where it all began. From start to finish, their entire wedding weekend design pulled from the color, culture and architecture San Miguel de Allende is known for. And with some modern touches and fun accents like Isa's metallic Toral boots, the vibe was made totally their own.
